Dr. Larry Brubaker - Retired

Dr. Larry Brubaker is a native of Freeport, IL, and he was saved there as a child. He preached his first sermon in 1954 when he was just 14 years old. He attended Bob Jones University and Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, where he met LaVanda Oyloe.

After their marriage in 1963, he served as Music and Youth Director at First Baptist Church in Rockford, IL, and Music Director at Eagledale Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN.  The Brubakers joined the Ron Comfort Evangelistic Team in May of 1976. He was responsible for leading the congregational singing and directing the Crusade Choir. Mrs. Brubaker traveled with him in ministry, accompanying on the piano and serving together with him. They ministered all across in the United States as well as in several foreign countries.

The Brubakers moved to Kings Mountain, NC, in August 1993. They joined Emmanuel Baptist Church, and Dr. Brubaker served as Music Pastor when they were not traveling in revival crusades. 

After faithfully serving at Emmanuel for 37 years, Dr. Larry Brubaker retired in August 2020. He continues to play his trombone, trumpet, euphonium, or accordion in our services, still pursuing his life-long passion to honor Christ with his life and his musical talents.
