About Us

A word from our pastor

Thank you for visiting our website. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to come visit our church. We at Emmanuel Baptist make one guarantee about our ministry: when you come to our services you will hear the Bible preached and taught. We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, and that our job is to make its message known to people of all ages and backgrounds. We want Christ to be honored in our music, our worship, our relationship to the community, and all that we do. We are striving for balance in our ministry, which entails an emphasis on both evangelism and Bible teaching, both at home and abroad. We have a fully-graded curriculum, offering active programs for children and teenagers, with solid Biblical content at its core. Although we are always happy to gain new members, it is not membership in the church that is most important. In fact, church membership, baptism, communion, etc., are not valid experiences until after one accepts Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior. If you have any question regarding where you will spend eternity, please read here to have God’s plan of salvation explained to you. Please e-mail us and let us know if you accept Christ as your personal Savior. We hope you enjoy our site.

Jim Ogle,

Our philosophy of preaching

Many modern-day churches are minimizing preaching, often substituting drama, videos, and other types of entertainment for the old-fashioned preaching of the Word of God. At Emmanuel, we see things differently. We are told in I Corinthians 1:18 that, “The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” Therefore, preaching is the central issue at Emmanuel.

The Godly, Christ-honoring music at Emmanuel “sets the table” for preaching, but it cannot replace preaching. Believing that the Bible is designed to address the practical issues of life, we trust the Bible to do its work in the lives of all who attend our services. Thus, the preaching style that is most often utilized is the expository method. The people who are faithful in attendance can hear books of the Bible taught and preached from beginning to end. This will greatly increase their knowledge of God and His Word. There is a legitimate place for topical preaching, when done with thorough preparation, but we believe that the “main diet” ought to be expository preaching.
